KRFDC is constantly seeking enthusiastic individuals to volunteer their services and time in helping others. Each year we depend on thousands of committed, community-minded volunteers to help achieve our mission of helping people. Volunteers can do a variety of things such as lead exercise classes for seniors, sort food and clothing donations, conduct craft classes, assist with the organization and distribution of commodities, provide maintenance, and help with special events. We also have many opportunities for groups: businesses, churches, civic groups, service clubs, and sororities/fraternities.
Volunteers are most often needed to help with:
Assist in the Office:
Volunteers are needed in some of our local offices to assist answering telephones, copying materials, general clerical duties, and assisting with special community projects.
Deliver Meals to the Homebound:
Volunteers are needed to distribute lunches for our Home Delivered Meals Program. Volunteers deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled persons so that they may maintain their independence and quality of life. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday. Volunteers can work any amount of days they want from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Those interested will use their own vehicle to deliver meals and be reimbursed for mileage expenses. You must have a valid driver’s license and TB skin test. Training provided. Two hours a day, a week, or month can make a difference. We provide home delivered meals in Berea, Richmond, and Winchester.
Depending on the work volunteers may be subject to a criminal background check contingent upon placement and responsibilities.
