Fleet Mechanic (Richmond)

Location: Transportation | Richmond

Job Description:

Full-time (40 Hours Per Week)
Non-Exempt Position
$28 – $32 per hour

Position Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance tasks on a variety of public transit vehicles, including buses and vans.  This position will collaborate with the Transportation Director and the Fleet Manager to ensure the readiness and effectiveness of the Agency fleet.

High School diploma or GED required. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Written communication must include proficiency in electronic communication via email and other forms of correspondence. Microsoft Office proficiency strongly desired. A valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License or the ability and willingness to obtain a CDL is required. Driving history will be a consideration for this position. Minimum of five years vehicle maintenance experience required.  ASE certification required. Must be familiar with vehicle maintenance, computer diagnostic systems, and all aspects of fleet-related transportation.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record and be willing to frequently travel the service area.  Agency policy regarding drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment criminal background check applies to this position. Also, all employees must submit to random drug tests when necessary.

In addition to other physical requirements, this position requires the ability to bend and use a full range of motion.  Must have the ability to exert force frequently to lift, carry, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 60 pounds. Must be able to push/pull a minimum of 150 pounds.  Guidelines for the use of personal protective equipment will be strictly adhered to.
