KENTUCKY RIVER FOOTHILLS OPERATES FOUR AGING PROGRAMS IN CLARK, POWELL & MADISON COUNTIES.
We operate the James B. Allen Generation Center in Winchester and the Powell County Senior Citizens Center in Stanton. Madison County is the only county in the Bluegrass Region that is fortunate enough to have two wonderful centers – The Richmond Active Living Center and the Berea Senior Citizens Center.
The Older Americans Act of 1965 was established to ensure that all seniors receive access to a nutritious meal. Senior Centers were created around the nutrition program and evolved from that.
Today our centers are much more than a meal program. We work diligently to enhance the quality of life of older adults in our community.
Our centers are full of activity. We offer thoughtful programming and services to promote positive aging. We highlight socialization and help participants connect with peers and their community. The friendships that are formed among our clients give them a second family, and our center gives them another place to call home.
Age 60 and older, or spouse of a person that is 60 or older. Physically able to participate in programs and activities without supervision or assistance. *If you are not independent, you must be accompanied by a caregiver or friend at all times.
No need to make a reservation, just show up, learn about our program, and plan on staying for lunch.
We are a non-medical social facility. There are no fees, and the program is not income-based. Our main priority is that our older adults feel loved and cared for. We are open to all adults, ages 60 and older.
Hot Lunch Served on-site weekdays at 11:30 a.m.
Limited transportation provided at no-cost
Home Delivered Meals
If you, or your loved one, is not able to attend the center due to poor health, we offer a Home Delivered Meal Program. This program goes beyond just delivering food. Staff conduct wellness checks with each meal. Many people are eligible for this program at no cost to them. To request meals, call 1-866-665-7921 or call the Center in your community.
Although participants are provided the opportunity to contribute a small donation per meal, it is not required. Gifts are greatly valued and help support older adults. There are many giving options available.
If you are interested in giving back and working with older adults, please reach out. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available.
