Weatherization Program
Weatherization enhances home efficiency and safety, reducing heating and cooling costs, ensuring a comfortable and sustainable living environment for residents.
Our program is designed to enhance the safety of homes and help reduce heating and cooling costs by making them more energy efficient. If you qualify based on income and your home is eligible at inspection, we offer free weatherization services to families and individuals in Kentucky.
On average, weatherization can cut heating bills by 32% and overall energy bills by around $350 per year. It includes various measures such as air sealing, improving ventilation, and adding insulation. These changes not only save you money but can also contribute to better respiratory health, mental well-being, and overall safety.
How We Make It Happen
Our Weatherization Assistance Program, funded by the US Department of Energy in partnership with the Kentucky Housing Corporation, is carried out by our locally based and professionally trained crews. Using computerized energy assessments and advanced diagnostic tools, such as blower doors and infrared cameras, we conduct a thorough analysis of your home. This helps us identify the most cost-effective measures and address any health and safety concerns.
How We Make Homes Cozy
Here’s a glimpse of what our crews may do:
Households with an annual income at or below 200 percent of the federal guidelines are eligible. Priority is given to the elderly, disabled individuals, homes with young children, and those with a high energy burden.
