Active Day Center Aide

Location: Foothills Active Day Center | Powell County

Job Description:

Summary: Responsible for assisting program participants with all daily activities including assisting participants on and off the bus, transferring to and from chairs and wheelchairs, assisting with toilet needs, and providing assistance with snacks and meals.

Salary Range:  $15.00 Hourly

Essential Duties:

  1. Assist other professional staff members as required in implementing and carrying out services and activities and meeting the needs of individual participants.
  2. Open and close the center; making it ready for daily activities, as needed.
  3. Perform daily routine cleaning at the center (sweeping, mopping, cleaning the kitchen, and taking out the garbage).
  4. Provide attendant care services to clients in homes (as assigned) including but not limited to light housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation to physician appointments, grocery store, etc.
  5. Record all attendant care activities within the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) software as required by the Department of Aging and Independent Living.
  6. Assist participants on and off the bus.
  7. Transfer participants from chairs to wheelchairs.
  8. Assist participant with toilet needs (lift participant onto the commode, change adult undergarments, and other such needs).
  9. Prepare and assist participants with snacks and meals (open containers, cut food, etc.).
  10. Promote and engage participants in exercise, games, crafts, and other social activities.
  11. Participate in CPR, First Aid and other training as required.
  12. Answer the phone and handle telephone messages.
  13. Be responsible for patient attendance sheets and some daily record keeping.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:  High School diploma or GED required. Experience working with the elderly preferred.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push/pull/exert force up to 150 pounds.

Other Requirements:  Must have a valid driver’s license and the flexibility and willingness to change schedules and duties as needed according to staff availability. Must be willing to travel the service area as needed. Travel is primarily local or within the service area during the business day. TB test is required.
